But, I've decided to sell it at my cost. When I first saw this violin and looked at the old Strad label inside, I got excited. However there is a German Master's brand on the back below the button: Ernst? This fine 4/4 violin was made in or around 1780 in my opinion and has a real grafted neck supporting that time frame. This instrument is for when only the best will do and would make any professional happy! The violin is a fountain of lovely warm Italian like sound. The condition of the ribs, back neck and scroll is exceptional for a violin of this age. The table (top) has several repairs that were done professionally and are holding.
(see pix) There are scuffs or scrapes one would expect for a violin of this age. The reddish style varnish looks like a Cremona Italian Violin. The pegs match and work great.
The strings are near new and good. There is fine grain spruce on the table with FANTASTIC Flamed maple on the ribs, back, neck and scroll. Now You Can Own It For Less!!! The violin is offered as is and as pictured.
