Antique round, unbranded 4/4violin bow. German violin bow in German silver mounts witha half lined ebony frog and ebony banded button with an abalone shell/ebony inset. Probably made between 1910 and 1930. This bow is lightweight responsive and well balanced and draws a fine singing tone.
Balance point is 9 ¾ inches from the button end of the stick. Weight is 54.3 grams. The bow is straight with excellent camber. Color is a medium chocolate with light graining. The ebony/bone tip is intact. New natural silk wraps in light spruce green, sapphire blue and rust colors. New black lizard skin thumb rest. The square backed half lined ebony frog has green abalone shell eyes and a blue/green abalone heart shell slide. The stick has a hand rubbed Hill style linseed oil finish. This bow is in fine to excellent condition with no apparent repairs or fractures.This bow has been straightened, re cambered re finished and re haired with unbleached Mongolian stallion horse hair and fitted with new silk wraps and a new lizard skin thumb rest.
