A Superb Matching Pair of Antique, Solid Silver, Fiddle Pattern Dinner or Dessert Forks, by The Portland Company. Francis Higgins 111, Assay Hallmarked, London 1859. These matching pair of forks, are in excellent condition for their age and usage, with very minimal wear to the tips of the tines, they are monogram free, and with lovely clear hallmarks, so would make a great collectors item, or as a lovely wedding, christening or birthday present, or even as a nice gift for someone special. The forks are 6-3/4 (17cm) in length, and their combined silver weight is, 83g. These forks are often referred to as dinner or dessert forks, as that was their designated usage in the 18th & 19th century, whereas nowadays we just use them to eat our dinner etc.
Please refer to the dimensions given above. PS Silver is very difficult to photograph because it's reflection picks up the photographer, hence any tinging. Also, these items are not new, most are over 100 years old, some 200 and over, so may have some defects, unless they had a charmed life. I do post to most countries worldwide.
