Antique Stradivarius Copy Violin With Wooden W. E Hills & Sons London Case And Bow

  
Up for sale is a beautiful antique "Antonius Stradivarius" labeled (copy) violin, with a wooden W. It also comes with a bow that looks to be of a similar vintage but I was unable to find any markings to identify a maker or brand on the bow. The violin is in need of some work to be playable, but overall is a very nice piece. It has an Ebony fingerboard and tailpiece that are both in excellent shape. The finish has typical checking and crazing from being the original finish. It has some separation around the lower ribs. The back is a beautiful flame finish!

It truly looks amazing in good light. The neck is in nice straight shape. It does not include a bridge. Overall, it is a very nice instrument that just needs some TLC to become a very wonderful, playable instrument. The case is a very early example of W.

Hill and Sons wooden cases. It has an olive green / brownish interior.

The felt and the padding are in very nice shape! The inner compartments have nice doors, that function well. The original leather handle is still intact, and seems to be good to use. The wood is structurally in all-around, very nice shape.

There is an 8 crack on the top, going from the bottom straight up the middle. There is also a small crack around the right-upper rib. They could easily be filled in, and are mostly a cosmetic issue. I just didn't want to mess with the integrity of the original piece.

Some of the binding is missing around the edges. It does not include a key, and does not clip shut. Overall, just to have an original wooden Hill case like this is pretty incredible. It needs a little TLC, but is in very nice shape, considering the age. The bow has a mother of pearl inlay, and seems to be of a similar vintage to the case and violin. The wood is in very nice shape. It is structurally sound, and has the proper curvature. There aren't any markings to identify the maker. It is a very nice piece! It could possibly be something quite valuable.

It's a very nice package. With a little TLC, you would have an incredible Stradivarius copy.

The wooden case itself is something to be revered. The bow could possibly be something of value, and is certainly a nice addition to the package. Please look at my feedback.
