Fine old, presumably French violin around 1930. Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description! Finely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. T his beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams, but surely some marks in its old original varnish. The table is medium to fine grained spruce, and the back - like ribs and neck - is nicely flamed maple.

The instrument has been checked by our luthiers and checked by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with newly fitted elder ebony pegs, a new bridge, new ebony tailpiece, elder ebony chinrest and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Old French violin in immediate playing condition with great potential! Total 59,5 cm / 23.4", body 35,7 cm / 14.1", vibrating chord length 33,5 cm / 13.2, weight 500 gr / 17.63 oz.
