Today, parlor guitars are finding renewed interest among a broad spectrum of players, both professionals and those looking for small, lightweight instruments to take to beach parties or campfire singalongs. The top and head stock are all hand carved (SEE PHOTOS) it seems that the artist or maker made this fiddle out of an older guitar. (SEE PHOTOS) DEFINITE RARE PIECE OF AMERICANA AND FOLK HISTORY.
I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT, BECAUSE OF THE MATERIALS USED THAT THIS FIDDLE DATES ANYWHERE FROM THE MID-LATE 1800'S TO THE EARLY 1900'S. Ancient and in generally good condition (see photos) but definitely needs work to be able to once again be played as an instrument (SEE PHOTOS).
