The violin might be about the age dated, but in our opinion the label is not authentic. Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. N o open cracks or open seams, but surely some marks due to its age in it´s old amber varnish.

The table is medium grained spruce and 2-piece back - as well as ribs and neck - is maple. The violin has been checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with new ebony pegs, newly fitted elder ebony tailpiece & chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings.

These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos.

In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Beautiful old quality instrument with great potential in immediate playing condition.

Total 59,5 cm / 23.4", body 35,8 cm / 14.1", vibrating chord length 32,5 cm / 12.8, weight 484 gr / 17.1 oz.
