This 4/4 violin is quite possibly the work of Johann Hornsteiner (1), my best guess. See what The Henley Universal Dictionary has to say about this German Master.
This violin is Mittenwald German made, of that I'm certain. It was made in or around 1910 in my opinion. This would make a great violin for the collector. There are a number of repaired cracks on the table and back (see pix) The pegs don't match and slip when tuning Peg Dope?
When I finally got the violin tuned, it had a nice sweet sound. It needs a good A and E string! There are the usual scuffs and scratches you would expect from a violin this old. Because of the condition, the violin is offered CHEAP! There is fine grain spruce on the table with nice flamed maple on the ribs, back, neck and scroll.
Now You Can Own It for MUCH Less!!! The violin is offered as is and as pictured with NO BOW. What you see is what you get.
