Beautiful fine old master violin by Benedikt Wagner, presumably 2nd half 18th Century. Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description! Finely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling.

T his beautiful violin shows numerous repairs (all re-inforced with wooden patches), but no open cracks or open seams. The table is very narrow grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is maple. The instrument has been carefully revised by our luthiers and checked by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received a new setup with new ebony pegs, elder ebony tailpiece, elder ebony chinrest, a new bridge, newly fitted soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Beautiful old German master violin with great potential in immediate playing condition! Total 59 cm / 23.2", body 35,5 cm / 14.1", vibrating chord length 32,8 cm / 12.9, weight 453 gr / 15.98 oz.
