We would estimate its age at late 1700s / early 1800s. Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. This beautiful violin shows several repairs over the centuries, but currently no open cracks or open seams. The table is finely grained spruce and the 1-piece back, ribs and neck are nicely flamed maple.

Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthier and our violin player on playability. It received new ebony pegs, new bridge and new strings.

These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin!
