Interesting old German Stradiuarius - a master violin by Louis Lowendall late 1800s. Small repair below the right soundhole, but n o open cracks or open seams. The violin had been aged - the lines on front, back and ribs are superficial. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the 1-piece back -as well as the neck - is nicely flamed maple, ribs are bird's eye maple. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability.

In our workshop it received new setup with new ebony pegs, elder ebony tailpiece & ebony chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid playing performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to allow a comparison of the tonality of each instrument in the videos.

In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full tonal character of this violin! Fine old violin in immediate playing condition! Total 59,5 cm / 23.4", body 35,6 cm / 14", vibrating chord length 33 cm / 13, weight 467 gr / 16.47 oz.
