An excellent old German 19th century master violin with writing inside the table reading Josef Karl Ri?? The table is finely grained spruce and the 1-piece back - as well as ribs and neck - is nicely flamed maple. The tailpiece is decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received a new setup with newly fitted elder ebony pegs, tailpiece & chinrest, a newly fitted elder bridge and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Beautiful old quality instrument with great potential in immediate playing condition! Total 58,5 cm / 23", body 35,2 cm / 13.8", vibrating chord length 32,3 cm / 12.7, weight 466 gr / 16.44 oz.
