Fine old HOPF violin around 1st half 1800 - stamped inside the body and on the upper back. Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. No open cracks or open seams. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. The original short neck as been elongated (see detailed photo). The instrument has been checked by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with new ebony pegs, new ebony tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Good old German violin in immediate playing condition! Total 59 cm / 23.2", body 36 cm / 14.17", vibrating chord length 33 cm / 12.99, weight 493 gr / 17.4 oz.
