A very interesting old master violin, late 1700s / early 1800s - Northern Italy / Tyrol area. The individually carved scroll gives an impressively demonstration of flawless craftsmanship by a skilled luthier. T his beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams. The table is finely grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is maple. Pegs, fingerboard, tailpiece and chinrest are ebony.

The scroll has been masterly grafted to the neck, the pegholes have been bushed. Like always the instrument has been completely checked in our workshop by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup new ebony pegs, new ebony tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a new bridge and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance.

We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Beautiful old violin in immediate playing condition!
