OLD Russian 19th C VIOLIN Possibly Rigart Rubus? Or Czech Gypsey Violin ANTIQUE. Instrument was serviced a number of years ago less than 10?
When the violin was serviced, it was attempted to be identified, but no label was present on interior. A scope was used to verify this. The story is that this was my fathers violin as a child. When he was 10 years old or so, he wanted to play violin and was given the instrument by a neighbor (an immigrant). Based on other research, it does have similar features Rigart Rubus design.
It is unique in that the edges are smooth, there is no lip or finished edge. Thanks to fellow eBayer Luke: You have a beautiful Russian violin produced by Rigart Rubus as evidenced by the smooth edges on the instrument. Petersburg Russia in the mid to late 1800's. I have one myself with its label.
