Vintage American 4/4 Violin Made in Tama Iowa by E J Thedens
This is a beautiful American Violin made in Tama Iowa in the 1920s. The label says" E J Thedens Tama Iowa 1920 " So it is 103 years old. The instrument needs to be repaired and set up.
There are no cracks, just a loose bout that needs reglued, and the fingerboard realined. The back and sides are very beautiful highly flamed maple, and the top is straight grained spruce. The scroll is also nicely carved. The pegs are newer over sized, and ready to be fit to the violin. The back measures 14 and 1/8 th inches long.
The varnish is a deep red and shows the depth of the flames. This violin would make a good addition to an Iowa or an American Violin collection. I wil throw in a new ebony tail piece.
