Violin Early 1800's 4/4 Full Size. Country of origin is unknown. This violin has an early "through" neck where the end of the neck extends into the body and is glued to the top and back as apposed to the modern violin necks which are affixed with a mortise and tenon.
The neck is also slightly shorter than modern violins at 12-1/2 string length from nut to the bridge. The varnish has been touched up in several places over the years and there are a couple old solidly repaired cracks on top. There are no open seams. The violin also sports a one piece back. It is ready to play with Tonica strings but the new owner may prefer to have it set up for personal taste.
