Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! We acquired a number of violin bows from the sale of the inventory of a closed luthier shop. There were about 125 bows in that case.

Every time we pick a few more out to offer you, there ends up being another nice gem in there. We will be offering these violin and cello bows to our clients over the next few months. The violin bow is made of a fine wood.

The bow was made around circa 1950 in the Markneukirchen German area. The bow has an eight sided shaft which this maker was known for. Very little loss of the finish along the shaft.

Nice looking frog on it. The bow has no cracks, splits or repairs to the wood that I can see to report to you. Says "Richard Geipel" on the shaft above the frog. Says, "Germany" below frog and to right of it.

The bow still has a great finish on it. Strong flex to the shaft and I can ascertain no warping, splits or repairs to report to you. Nice black and white colored winding on the bow, that is securely fixed on both sides. The bow has the full name, "Richard Geipel" embossed on it. Nice mother of pearl inlays on the sides of the frog and along the bottom.

Silver and ebony end screw with what appears to be a piece of mother of pearl on the end which is unique. The bow is 27-3/16 long. The bow weighs 2.2 ounces with the horse hair that remains. The violin bow will need to be rehaired. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
